Rik Lander

Rik Lander is a writer and maker of participatory narratives currently focussing on creating conversational systems. He started out as a video artist in the 1980’s as half of the Duvet Brothers. Since then he has made a series of interactive and participatory installations, web narratives and theatrical experiences. Notably; Three Sides to Every Coin (1996) an interactive documentary, magic-tree (2001) a web drama, The Memory Dealer (2010-13) a pervasive drama. More recent projects include I am Echoborg  a participatory theatre experience driven by an artificial intelligence. He teaches part-time at UWE where he also runs a couple of research projects including From Utility to Social Entity (FUSE) which is exploring how different “behaviours” expressed by a virtual agent alter its relationship with users.
